Marcos Netto joined NJIT in January 2023, having previously worked at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) for four years. His research focuses on understanding, characterizing, and controlling the dynamics of electric power grids. Netto is a recipient of the NREL Director’s Postdoctoral Fellowship and has contributed to multiple projects funded by the U.S. Department of Energy and the National Science Foundation. He served as principal investigator in a project that pioneered the implementation at NREL of a data analytics platform based on streaming data, suitable for developing and testing applications for the real-time operation of power grids. His work appeared in the best papers session of the IEEE Power and Energy Society General Meeting and received a student contest award. Netto worked in the private industry for over seven years with stints at power transmission system operators, software developers, consulting firms, and high-voltage equipment manufacturers in Brazil and the United States.
